Task 7.1 \u2013 Modeling Compute Continuum Infrastructure Resources<\/strong><\/h3>

Establish abstract infrastructure models<\/strong> for the Resource Ensemble Manager (REM)<\/strong> to represent diverse cloud\u2013edge continuum resources<\/strong> for complex data analytics.
Using frameworks from WP4 (T4.1)<\/strong> a cloud-native APIs<\/strong> (extending Kubernetes API), the models define:<\/p>

  1. Cloud and edge resources<\/strong>, including constraints, energy use, and carbon footprint.<\/p><\/li>

  2. On-premise edge resources<\/strong> for managing COTS hardware.<\/p><\/li>

  3. SLOs and SLIs<\/strong> for SLA management.
    These models align with provisioning and adaptation systems (T7.2)<\/strong> to support dynamic workload management<\/strong>.<\/p><\/li><\/ol>

    Task 7.2 \u2013 Compute Continuum Provisioning and Adaptation\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>

    Develop provisioning and adaptation techniques<\/strong> for infrastructure resources within the cloud\u2013edge continuum<\/strong> to support the REM (T7.1).
    Using GitOps<\/strong> for infrastructure synchronization, and open-source tools like Cluster API, Crossplane, and Karmada<\/strong>, this task enables dynamic deployment, configuration, and scaling.
    A service mesh management system<\/strong> will ensure seamless interconnection in hybrid edge\u2013multi-cloud environments<\/strong>, enabling flexible, scalable, and adaptive<\/strong> resource provisioning for complex data pipelines.<\/p>

    Task 7.3 \u2013 Compute Continuum Access Control, Monitoring, and Holistic Explainability<\/strong><\/h3>

    Create a unified access control and monitoring interface<\/strong> across edge\u2013cloud providers, following Zero Trust principles<\/strong> for secure, privacy-aware operation (aligned with T3.2).
    The task provides trusted Compute Continuum Resources<\/strong> a runtime transparency<\/strong> for data pipelines using insights from the Unified Knowledge Layer (T4.1, T4.2)<\/strong>.
    Focus areas include energy consumption, trustworthy execution, data reliability, and performance<\/strong>, supported by ML-based monitoring<\/strong> to detect anomalies and ensure regulatory compliance.<\/p>

    Task 7.4 \u2013 Auction-based Models and Algorithms for the XaaS Marketplace\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>

    Develop an on-demand XaaS Marketplace<\/strong> for complex data analytics<\/strong>, integrating cloud and edge services through low-code\/no-code tools<\/strong> for providers and agents.
    Leveraging WP6 results<\/strong> and the Smart Data Management layer<\/strong>, the Marketplace uses semantic annotations from UKL (T4.1)<\/strong> to enhance service discovery and matchmaking<\/strong>.
    It supports real-time agent-based auctions<\/strong> for resource allocation via the REM (WP7), ensuring resilience<\/strong> through distributed runtime deployments and agent restart strategies<\/strong>.
