SPICE Brought a Practical Perspective on Working with Data to Košice

The SPICE series of expert seminars continued with another stop, this time on June 2nd 2026 at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Košice.

The event dedicated to working effectively with data, attracted IT specialists, data analysts and technical leaders, and presented a perspective on processing and using data in corporate processes with the help of modern artificial intelligence tools.

The seminar was opened with an introductory address by Peter Klamo of the Slovak Centre for Digital Innovation, who introduced the participants to the day’s programme.

The first presentation was delivered by Peter Kišša, Chief Technology Officer of InterWay. In his talk, he addressed the fundamental attributes of the project – why the SPICE transformation and innovation consortium was established, how the partners collaborate, what the goals of its research and innovation efforts are, and he also spoke more broadly about the opportunities that SPICE will offer companies over time.

He was followed by Marek Országh, Senior Project Engineer at MicroStep, who, in addition to introducing the company, explained the fast and efficient processing of data in AI-driven CNC manufacturing. He also discussed the importance of deploying technologies within the SPICE project, the approach to analytical techniques for large data sets, as well as a trustworthy platform with data anonymisation, the federated learning process and the flexibility in developing individual use cases.

The third presentation was shared by Filip Chrvala and Martin Pitoňák, experts in energy management from the Slovak Centre for Digital Innovation. They presented an AI-supported sustainable energy workflow for industrial microgrids, which includes forecasting energy consumption in operations, generating scenarios using AI, and simulations. They also introduced participants to working with data flows, the pilot deployment of an AI assistant that processes the outputs, as well as the way it can be integrated into corporate control systems.

The programme of presentations was concluded by Ľuboš Skurčák, Director of the Department of Science, Research, Development and Analysis at VÚJE a.s. After introducing the company and its role in the SPICE project, he focused on intelligent decision support in the power industry, remote earth sensing and aerial diagnostics of power lines using the TRAKKA, LiDAR Riegel and HySpex inspection systems. He also outlined the possibilities of using artificial intelligence in the power industry and the concept of decision support in the operation of power systems.

The seminar culminated in a closing discussion with all the presenters, which provided space for questions and an exchange of experience between participants and experts.
